What’s the buzz about Tim Hortons
There was a whole lot of excitement and anticipation when the Canadian based coffee shop Tim Hortons announced its entry in Qatar. Hailed as the ‘Starbucks of Canada’, Tim Hortons is extremely popular in the west for its unique coffee blends and of course, its signature Timbits. We took our Canadian friends with us to the outlet here in Doha to see if this famed coffee joint was the real deal.
Tim Hortons has a boring ambience when compared to its peers such as Dunkin’ Donuts or Krispy Kreme. The place is neither inviting nor interesting. A basic colour scheme and dull furniture make up this tiny outlet at Ezdan Mall.
The Large Iced Cappucino (QR18) was great for the weather. However, the excessive ice added to the drink diluted it quicker than expected and it soon lost its coffee taste. The Iced Supreme Cappucino (QR17) was ordered with whipped cream for a hint of smoothness. The hazelnut-flavoured shot in the drink did not disappoint. The Strawberry Banana Fruit Smoothie (QR16) tasted fresh but it got too sugary after a couple of sips.
The highlight of the trip was gorging on the classic Timbits. Timbits are essentially donut holes in different flavours. A pack of 10 Timbits comes for QR9. These sugar-dusted, jelly and cream bits are soft, well priced and easy to munch on![boxify cols_use =”1″ cols =”2″ position =”right” order =”none” box_spacing =”10″ padding =”10″ background_color =”#3c3c3c” border_style =”solid” ]

Tim Hortons is on the Ground Floor of Ezdan Mall. The mall is located on the Al Shamal Highway, Al Garaffa. It is open 8am-1am daily.[/boxify]
The Spicy Jalapeno Bagel with cream cheese lived up to its name. The spiciness of the dish along with the melted herb and garlic cream cheese made it a complete winner. Ask for the bagels toasted as it adds to the delicious taste of the dish.
Available in Ranch, Caesar and BBQ, the Chicken Wrap (QR 9) was fresh and served hot. The right amount of ranch in the wrap made the dish not too dry or too saucy.
Although the place serves moderately good coffee and interesting meal options, the excitement, hype and buzz about this Canadian joint still remains a mystery to us.
