Sea Shadow (Dhil al Bahr)

In a small seaside neighbourhood of the UAE, teenagers Mansour and Kaltham struggle with the traditions of their society as they journey towards adulthood.

The film is screened as part of Doha Film Institute’s Hekayat Khaleejiya series that showcases films from the GCC.

Directed by Abu Dhabi-born Nawaf Al Janahi, the film had his world premiere in the Abu Dhabi Film Festival 2011.

Beasts Of The Southern Wild

Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis) is six years old. And in the face of a harsh environment – both in her family and the world around her – she must learn to love and be courageous.

She is desperate to and childishly optimistic about saving her world, an ailing father and sinking home included. Directed by Benh Zeitlin, the film won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance 2012.

Doha Film Institute brings this critically acclaimed film to Qatar.
