Two large, grass fields are interlocked with a brick-paved and a sand-lot ceremonial courtyard to form Al Khesah Occasions Square. On first impression it appears barren but it is a satisfactory place to walk without feeling like a fish in a fishbowl.

A few palm trees provide wisps of shade and two newer playgrounds provide primary-colored entertainment for children under the age of 8. The play areas are completely fenced in, keeping your child contained. There is no easy escape unless your child is lock savvy.

Sand breaks any falls and when wetted down the sand is perfect for building a sand majlis for lego people.

In spite of the playgrounds’ small size, they have a variety of play equipment such as rock-climbing, see-saws, a small climbing gym with a small slide and number rolls.

Be warned: there is absolutely no shade. Nor is there seating at the playground-unless you count bum on sand.

The play areas are identical and located on either end of the ceremonial courtyard.

It is close to a school so don’t drive to or from during drop-off or pick-up unless you want to be surrounded by hungry drivers and barking horns.
