Job hunting in Qatar: Finding the right fit

Qatar’s job market is growing at a much faster pace than previously predicted. Going by population growth alone, Qatar has surpassed the 1.9 million mark a couple of years ahead of predictions.

Qatar’s National Development Strategy hadn’t expected to touch this figure before 2016. In a series of articles, JustHere will address the questions these opportunities raise.

Internations Qatar
Internations is an international online community for people who live and work abroad. Spanish Business Council
The Spanish Business Council exists to promote business and trade relations between Qatar and Spain. It holds an informal monthly networking event that is open to both Spanish and non-Spanish speaking people. In addition, it also organises lectures and visits to different commercial and government organisations for members to inform and educate them about different developments taking place in the country. Irish Qatari Business Council (IQBC)
This group was formed in 2012 to promote trade between the Qatari and Irish business entities in Qatar. It focuses on creating marketing and networking opportunities along with making introductions and providing referrals and business intelligence amongst people and businesses. Scandinavian Business Council Qatar
This is a not-for-profit, non-political joint networking platform for the five Scandinavian countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. It hosts a number of networking events centered on different activities and themes. In the past, some of these have included golf tournaments, a monthly networking event, crayfish parties and the like.
American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Qatar)
AmCham Qatar was founded in 2010 to foster mutual cooperation and understanding between Qatar and the US through trade, commerce and investment. It hosts a number of networking events as well as opportunities for its members to contribute through volunteering to join or lead a committee.
It also organises other events for members to come together and enjoy such as sports nights, hosting distinguished speakers as well as trade shows and conferences.
Membership is open to start-up entities, established entities (with upto 50 worldwide employees), individual members (open only to American citizens residing in Qatar) and non-resident members.
Qatar British Business Forum (QBBF)
To be a member of the QBBF, individuals must be either a British citizen in a professional or managerial position living and working in Qatar or a Qatari or person of other nationality holding a senior position while living in Qatar but working for a British entity here. QBBF organises networking events and other events such as business lunches, conferences and talks by guest speakers.

German Business Council Qatar
This not-for-profit, non-political organisation seeks to improve business and trade relations between Germany and Qatar. Membership with the Council entails invitation to its monthly meetings, special events as well as a listing in their online business directory.
