Working hours in Qatar: Eid Al Fitr 2013

Aren’t we all gearing up for the upcoming Eid break? But remember that Eid holidays also mean important government organisations such as banks and ministries will be on break too, including some hospitals, malls and supermarkets.

Here’s what you need to know:

Ministries and other governmental institutions

Closed from August 6-15. Employees will resume work on August 18 (Sunday).

Departments under the Ministry of Interior that serve the public namely the General Directorate of Border Passports and Expatriate Affairs (or the Immigration Department), Nationality and Travel Documents Department, Traffic Department, Criminal Evidences and information Department (CEID) and MoI services centres will work from 8am-12noon.


QNA announced that Qatar Central Bank (QCB) and Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) along with their subsidiary banks and financial corporations would have a three-day break.

The Peninsula has published that banks will have official Eid Al Fitr holidays for five days beginning 8 August. But from the second day of Eid, some of their branches will operate according to their regular weekday working hours; while some branches in malls will be open from 5pm-9pm.


City Center: Open on all days  –  10am-1am; Friday – 3pm-1am. Call 44933355.

Villaggio Mall: First Day – 2pm-11pm; Other days – 9am-10pm. Call 44135222.

Al Khor Mall: First day – 2pm -11pm; Other days – 10am-10pm. Call 44533445.

Al Asmakh Mall: First Day – 3pm-10pm (if it is Thursday) or 1pm-11pm (if it is Friday); Other days – 10am-10pm. Call 44289141.

Parco Mall: Open on all days from 9am-1am. Call 44697024

Royal Plaza: First Day – 4pm-10pm; Friday – 3.30pm-11pm; Other days – 9am-10pm. Call 44130000.

Safari Mall: First Day – 3pm-12am. Call 44191441.

The Centre: Closed on the first day. Other days – 10am-12am; Friday – 4pm-12pm. Call 44440202.

Wathnan Mall: First Day – 4pm-12am; Other days – 8am-12am. Call 44317705.

The Mall: First Day – 4pm-10pm; Other days – 10am-10pm. Call 44678888.

Ezdan Mall: First Day – 8am-12am. Call 55145286 or 30248221.

Hospitals & Clinics

Hamad Medical Corporation: Outpatient (OPD) clinics closed from August 7-11. At the Hamad General Hospital, patients will be able to refill medications all through the holidays, except August 8.

Al Ahli Hospital: Closed during Eid. Dates to be announced soon.

Al Emadi Hospital: Closed from August 8-10.

Aspetar: Closed from August 6-18.

Al Safa Polyclinic: Open all days from 8am-11pm.

American Hospital: Open 24/7 during Eid.

The Apollo Clinic: Closed on the first day of Eid. Other days, open from 6am-11pm.


Lulu Hypermarket (all locations): First Day – 5pm-12am; Others days – 9am-1am.

Mega Mart: The Barwa Village location open on all days – 8am-11pm; The Centre branch – All days, 8am-12.30am.

Family Food Centre (FFC) (all locations): Closed on the first day; Other days: 7.30am-12am.

Carrefour (all locations): First day – 8am-2am; Second Day – 8am-1am; Third Day – 8am – 12am.

Al Meera (all locations): All days – 8am-11.30pm.

Spinneys (The Mall): All days – 8am-1am.

Museum of Islamic Art (MIA)

MIA, Museum Café, and the MIA Park will be closed until the second day of Eid.


All retail branches of Ooredoo will be open from 4pm-10pm on the first, second and third days of Eid. On the fourth day, they will open at normal official hours.
