[STUDY] 63% Qatari students are aware of National Vision 2030 but not Qatar’s constitution
In a new survey that touched upon political and social awareness among Qatari students, 63% said they were aware of Qatar’s National Vision 2030. However, the same percentage had no idea about the country’s constitution.
Meanwhile 41% students were in favour of establishing a parliament, which would serve as an opportunity for them to participate in public affairs.
The survey was conducted by the Research and Social Studies Department of the Social Development Centre with the sample size of 269 students. The age group was 16-25 years.
When asked about the Arab revolutions, a majority of students (86%) said they were aware of the ‘Arab Spring’, mainly because of the wide media coverage it garnered.
About 74% respondents supported the Arab revolutions citing the inefficiency of the former rulers, The Peninsula has reported. Also over 50% respondents were of the opinion that Qatar too supported the Arab Spring. Meanwhile, about 25% were against the revolutions, as they believed “rulers should be obeyed irrespective of their behaviour”.
