Second MERS case reported in Qatar this year
The Supreme Council oh Health has detected a new case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus (Mers-CoV) in Qatar, making it the second case in the country for 2014.
The patient is a 43-year old Qatari who was diagnosed with pneumonia and has now contracted the Mers-CoV, the Gulf Times has reported.
The common symptoms of a person infected with MERS-CoV include: fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
SCH officials have urged Qatar residents to practise precautionary measures, especially when visiting farms or camel barns. It’s advisable to stay away from sick animals and wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling camels or any other farm animal.
