SEC: Sick leave certificates from private clinics will not be considered
Students at independent schools will now be required to obtain sick leave certificates from Hamad Medical Corportation or primary health care centres only, and not private clinics, the Supreme Education Council has said.
This latest move is in light of the rising number of fake leave certificates submitted by students to skip classes.
According to a report in The Peninsula, this rule applies to students, teachers and non-teaching staff at independent schools. (Read full report here.)
However, other private schools in Qatar seem to be unaffected by this rule so far. A few schools that JustHere contacted said they accepted sick leave certificates from any authorised medical clinic.
Do you regard SEC’s decision as a good move? What if the same rule applied for companies in the public and private sector?
