A press release sent by Hamad International Airport (HIA) says that the airport is all set to open its doors in April. On November 29, 2012 QCAA successfully tested its first plane landing at the HIA, formerly referred to as the New Doha International Airport. Here’s what you can expect:

Passenger terminal complex
The iconic roof is in the form of echoes waves in the Gulf.
600,000 sq mt terminal
29 hectare lagoon
6900 sq mt Transportation Facility
100 Limousine Staging
3450 car parking system
2,100 sq mt mosque plaza, 35m minaret

Departure halls:
24m high ceiling
25,000 sq mt column-free space
150 check-in counters
14 first class check-in counters
16 business class check-in counters

Runways:
4.8km long, 60m wide and 2km apart

Other features:
Sunken garden, retail gallery, quiet rooms, F&B, information kiosks, currency exchange and flight information displays.
