Rat infestation plagues residents of Al Ruwais
Residents of the northern Qatari town of Al Ruwais have been complaining of the town’s buildings and public spaces being infested by rats.
This is mainly due to the infrastructural developments being carried out in the town over the past 10 years. These have caused in old, abandoned buildings to become nestling points for rats.
Gulf Times reports that the rats have entered homes, schools and other places in the town. Though no case of attack has been reported yet, residents say that the rodents pose a great health hazard for people in the neighbourhood, especially children.
When contacted by JustHere, an official from the Ministry of Municipality & Urban Planning said they were aware of this problem, and were already working towards it.
This, however, is not the first rat incident that has surfaced in Qatar. In August last year, a rat was found in an overseas flight from Mumbai International Airport Ltd that landed in the Doha International Airport.
