Parking, parking everywhere, who wants to use it?
Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (Kahramaa) now allows visitors, customers and clients access to its multi-level parking facility near its two offices in Al Rames Tower and Al Sulaiti Tower in Al Dafna.
The seven-level parking facility was previously open to the company’s staff, however, even though it is now open to the public, are people really using it?
The open ground adjacent to the facility, however, has always been packed with cars especially between 7.30am and 3pm. Visitors to all the offices in the vicinity use the space for parking purposes. Some of the other companies located near the parking lot are the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and the Ministry of Justice.
A Qatari passerby who was returning to his car on the ground from Kahramaa said that he wasn’t aware of the new parking lot. “I presumed this parking lot was meant for the staff of Ministry Of Justice.”
Access to the multi-storied Kahramaa-owned parking lot is possible only when the security personnel at the entrance scans his access card. Though the parking lot is meant for Kahramaa guests only, the security guard did not stop us to confirm whether we were actually visiting Kahramaa, he allowed us to enter the facility. Also, the upper levels to the parking lot are accessible by a separate entrance, which might make it a little confusing for drivers.
