New law to make it mandatory for eateries to display ingredients
There’s a new law under study that would make it mandatory for eateries in Qatar to display ingredients and nutritional value of the food they serve.
The announcement was made by the Ministry of Public Health on the occasion of National Sports Day, The Peninsula has reported.
According to the Minister of Public Health H E Abdullah bin Khaled Al Qahtani, this move would help promote healthy eating habits among residents. The Ministry is already working with the Supreme Education Council to ensure school canteens sell only healthy food.
Qatar has one of the highest rates of obesity and diabetes in the world, and with initiatives like these, and with this new move, the government aims to promote a healthy lifestyle in the country.
