Need for discipline among cab drivers discussed at the public transport summit in Qatar
If you thought brash taxi drivers are only found in Qatar, you haven’t travelled the world enough.
At the recently held UITP Summit in Doha, speakers from around the world brought into focus the poor behaviour of a majority of public transport drivers, especially cab drivers, according to a report by the Gulf Times.
Arguments between cabbies and customers were a “worldwide phenomenon in the taxi sector”, and these could be for a number of reasons such as fares or deliberate slowing down of cabbies, etc.
For a more peaceful customer-driver relation, speakers called for a need of imparting discipline and good habits among drivers, as well as improving their working conditions.
Not many of us have had pleasant experiences with cab drivers in Qatar. Writer Cassey Oliveira shares her one such experience with a cab driver, enough to shatter her Doha safety-bubble. Read her post for JustHere here.
How has your experience been with cab drivers?
