MET: Strong Northwesterly winds to blow over Qatar from Friday
According to the Qatar Meteorology Department, the country will be affected by fresh to strong Northwesterly winds starting Friday, 15 May.
The winds are expected to blow at speeds of 17 – 27 KT reach 35 KT at times inshore, and from 20-30 knots reaching 40 knots at times offshore. This may lead to rise in the height of waves by 6-10 feet, or even 13 feet at places.
The visibility is expected to be reduced and may reach 2000 M at places especially in open areas of the country due to blowing dust and sand, with formation of some scattered clouds.
The Northerly wind will lead to a drop in temperature, where the maximum temperature will be between 37-39°C and the minimum between 25-28°C in Doha, and less in the southern parts of the country. This situation is expected to continue until Tuesday midday, May 19.
