ictQatar to provide free internet for 10,000 workers
With the first phase of the ictQatar’s ‘Better Connections Programme’ to be launched soon, at least 10,000 workers are expected to receive free internet connection in Qatar.
As part of the programme, about 25 computer rooms will be set up at labour accommodation across Qatar in the coming months, complete with internet facility and other supporting infrastructure, according to a report in The Peninsula. The Ministry has collaborated with a number of partners for this initiative. These include: the Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Al Thani Humanitarian Services (RAF), the Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) and Microsoft Qatar, to name a few.
Through the programme, migrant workers would be better able to connect with their family back home. Moreover, they will also be trained to improve their computer and digital skills.
