HMC to increase bed capacity in intensive care unit by 33%
Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) is undertaking infrastructure upgrades and maintenance work at Hamad General Hospital (HGH) in preparation for the introduction of service improvements including an expansion of bed capacity in the Medical Intensive Care Unit by 33%.
HMC has prioritised expanding availability of intensive care beds and trauma services to meet demand and ensure critical care patients receive the best care at the right time, in the right place and at international standards.
The improvements, which will see a new and larger Intensive Care Unit established on the second floor of HGH, will ensure more space for each critically ill patient.
In order to facilitate these improvements for critically ill patients, HGH has been undertaking essential maintenance work since Friday 20 March until the next weekend.
