HIA may see soft opening on April 30

If a circular issued by Civil Aviation Authority that is being widely circulated on social media is to be believed, the Hamad International Airport (HIA) is scheduled to open on April 30, 2014.

An official from Hamad International Airport told JustHere she was aware of this circular, but refused to comment on the same. Any details would be announced only next week, she added.

According to the circular, 10 budget airlines have been requested to land all their flights at the HIA starting from 11am on April 30. These airlines include: Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Fly Dubai, Air Arabia, Iran Air, Air India Express, Yemenia Yemen Airlines, Pakistan International Airline, Nepal Airline, Syrian Airline and Pegasus Airline.

The Federal Aviation Administration had also issued a NOTAM yesterday announcing: the opening of HIA will be delayed till April 30. HIA

In January this year, Chairman of the Steering Committee of the New Doha International Airport (NDIA), H.E. Mr. Abdul Aziz Mohammad Al-Noaimi had Hamad International Airport (HIA) had announced at a press conference that the airport would begin operations in mid-2014, while sharing details of the airport.
