Doha Driving: Overtaking from the right could cost you QR500 and vehicle impoundment for 7 days; jail time for third offense

Qatar’s Traffic Department has stepped up its efforts to implement stricter traffic rules. Amidst rising complaints of vehicles overtaking from the right side of the roads, the Traffic Department has announced a new traffic law as below:

According to an earlier post by MOI on its Facebook page, “overtaking” in general is prohibited in the following cases:

  • In case of “No overtaking” sign.
  • In case of solid lines on road surface.
  • On hills and slopes
  • Near intersections

Do you overtake vehicles? Or have you been overtaken? What do you think about this new law?
