Businesses in Qatar can obtain Civil Defence certification within 30 days from acquiring commercial licences
In its attempt to encourage more businesses to open in Qatar, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce has relaxed licensing rules for about 55 business categories.
A major rule that came into effect from today enables businesses to obtain fire safety certification from the Civil Defence within 30 days from acquiring commercial licences, The Peninsula has reported. Prior to this, business owners were required to obtain the certificate before having the commercial license.
However, the Ministry has indicated that this rule applies to businesses with an allotted space of up to 250 square metres, or 2,690 square feet. A range of businesses that benefit with this rule include: beauty salons, photo studios, butcheries, telecoms services, car showrooms, law and audit firms, grocery stores, supermarkets and cafeterias among many others.
