Ashghal: Temporary closure of one lane in each direction on Al Shamal Road near Al Rayyan Interchange
The Public Works Authority, Ashghal, has announced that one lane out of three lanes in both directions will be closed to traffic on Al Shamal Road near Al Rayyan Interchange. The closure will begin as of midnight Thursday 13 August 2015 and will last three months.
The closure which is around 300 metres in length, will not affect commuter traffic in any way as an alternative lane will be added in each direction to maintain the same number of lanes as the existing road. The diversion works have already commenced and the new road layout will be open for traffic on Friday morning for the northbound traffic and Saturday morning for the southbound traffic.
The closure is needed to allow for the construction of the bridge that will link Al Rayyan Road to Al Shamal Road which will serve to alleviate and reduce traffic congestion in the Rayyan area.
