85 food outlets shut down in Industrial Area
About 85 food outlets were shut down by authorities in a recent inspection drive conducted by the Doha Municipality in Industrial Area.
According to a report in The Peninsula, the violating outlets comprised illegal kiosks selling tea, coffee, soft drinks, sandwiches and other snacks, run by low-income workers from rooms within the labour camps.
The Doha Municipality has launched a series of food inspection drives since mid-2013. In December last year, around 175 erring outlets were closed down. To date, a total of 155 illegal outlets have been granted licences
The Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning has launched a toll-free number (44266666) to report violations.
