19396 Voters Register for CMC Election

The first phase of the 5th Central Municipal Council (CMC) election process wrapped up on Thursday evening, which comprises of registering the names of those who are interested to vote in the CMC election through 29 constituencies headquarters or through ‘Metrash2’ service.

The ‘Supervising Committee for the Fifth Central Municipal Council Election’ announced that the  total number of the voters who registered through the headquarters of the 29 electoral constituencies as well as ‘Metrash2’ service reached to 19396 voters in which 10612 (54.74%)  are males and 8780 (45.26%) voters are females. Al Murrah, the 13th constituency  witnessed the high number of the registration which reached to 2787 and the second place was bagged by Muaither, the 12th constituency by 2399 registrations, while the third place was scored by  8th constituency, the Airport area by 1507 voters  and the fourth place was followed by the 20th constituency, Al Wakra by 1153 voters’ registrations.

On the occasion, the ‘Supervising Committee for the Fifth Central Municipal Council Election’ under the Ministry of Interior  announced that the concerned committee will prepare the preparatory list of the voters in each constituency during Sunday, 25/1/2015 – Tuesday, 27/1/2015 and on Wednesday, 28/1/2015, the Committee will announce the list of voters in the headquarters of each constituency and on the same day, the Committee will start receiving the applications for addition or deletion of the voters and this will continue until Thursday, 5/2/2015. During these seven days, the citizens who couldn’t register their names in the voters’ list can register through their electoral constituencies headquarters or ‘Metrash2 service’ of the Ministry of Interior.

The Supervising Committee urged all citizens who could not register their names in voters list  to rush to register during the addition and deletion period of seven days starting from Wednesday, 28/1/2015 and those who have already registered in the voters’ list to head towards the electoral headquarters to  ensure their names are entered in the voters list which will be announced on Wednesday, 28/1/2015.

The final list of the voters will be announced on Tuesday, 3/3/2015 and after this process, the second phase of the election, which is nominating the candidates for the CMC election, will start.
