Over 1,000 teachers to join Qatar’s independent schools for new academic year
For the new academic year 2015-2016, the Supreme Education Council (SEC) has announced its plan to recruit about 1,600 teachers for Independent schools, the Peninsula has reported.
The mass recruitment of teachers is part of a move to fill the large void of academic staff across independent schools in Qatar. Teachers will be mainly recruited from Arab countries, namely Palestine, Egypt, Jordan and Tunisia, the report further states.
The recruitment will take place in phases. For the first phase, about 998 teachers will be on board with specialisation in 20 subjects. This includes 182 maths teachers, 182 Arabic language teachers, 99 for science, 34 for biology, 11 for physics and 45 for social science. In addition, 15 teachers will be specially brought in to teach children with special needs, while three other would specialise in speech therapy.
