Kahramaa celebrates 4th Tarsheed Anniversary

The Qatar General Electricity & Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) celebrated the fourth annual celebration of its ongoing National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency (Tarsheed).

Tarsheed has succeeded in reducing the per capita electricity and water consumption until November 2015 by 14% and 17%, respectively. The ongoing National Program for Conservation and Energy Efficiency has made an effective saving of about QR800mn until 2015, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and consumption of Gases. The prime target of the Tarsheed is to reduce the per capita water and electricity consumption in Qatar by 35% & 20%, respectively until 2017.

Kahramaa also felicitated winners (individual and corporate) who have been selected under various categories for their entries sought for a number of competitions being organized by KAHRAMAA’s Conservation and Energy Efficiency department.

The winners are as follows:

  • Best governmental organization in applying conservation and efficiency standards – Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs
  • Conserving buildings – Best conserving building (Governmental sector) – Students’ Residential building of Qatar Foundation – Hamad Bin Khalifa University
  • Conserving buildings – Best conserving building (Governmental sector) – Qatar Academy School of  Msheireb Properties
  • Conserving buildings – Best conserving building (Residential sector) –            Al- Gassar Residential compound of Alfardan Group
  • Conserving buildings – Best conserving building (Commercial sector) – Qatar Shell (located at Al-Dafna)
  • Conserving buildings – Best conserving building (Sports sector) – Ministry of Culture and Sports – Al Ahli Sports Clu
  • Conserving buildings – Best conserving building (Tourism sector) – Crown Plaza Doha
  • Tarsheed Competition – Green Hospitality in partnership with Amlak International Grand Hyatt Doha
  • Best renewable energy initiative competition (Organizations Category) – First place – Qatar Foundation’s  Project of producing 500 MW of solar Energy at Education City
  • Best renewable energy initiative competition (Organizations Category) – Second place Iberdrola Company – Initiative for Green Schools
  • Best renewable energy initiative competition (Organizations Category) – Green Gulf Company
  • Best renewable energy initiative competition (People Category) – Farm of Khalid Al-Mutawaa
  • Best renewable energy initiative competition (People Category) – Eng. Ahmed Ghareeb Al- Malki
  • Apps Champ Competition – Sara Abdulla Al-Mutawwa, Hamad Bin Khalifa University
