Seven of the worst traffic jam places in Qatar; Abu Hamour tops it all

Seven of the worst traffic jam places in Qatar; Abu Hamour tops it all

With almost every road dug up for construction works, traffic in Qatar has become a nightmare for commuters, especially during peak hours.

Traffic roulette

Below are a few suggestions to help you manage the morning traffic blues:

  • Obviously, leave home earlier than usual to reach your destination on time. For morning rides, pack your breakfast to have on-the-go – you will be stationary for long periods of time on the road.
  • If you have flexible working hours, plan to begin your day a little after 9 a.m. when the traffic has cleared. You don’t want to be caught in the school hour rush.
  • Opt for carpooling. You not only help in reducing the number of vehicles on road, you are also being environment-friendly.  Put up notices in schools, clubs and office towers to find carpool buddies.
  • Keep a tab on traffic updates through MoI’s twitter feed. They are generally prompt in informing about any traffic jams or diversions.
  • Invest in good audio books and make a playlist of your favourite music. If you can’t beat the madness, make the most of it.

A survey conducted by Al Sharq has identified seven places in Qatar which faces the worst traffic jam. These include:

  • Abu Hamour
  • Mamoura
  • 22-February Road
  • Madinat Khalifa (South)
  • Al Markhiya
  • Al Wakra
  • Television roundabout

Abu Hamour is top of the game owning to the dozen of schools located in the area, The Peninsula has reported. (Read full report here.)

Another road that JustHere found to be clogged with cars in the mornings and afternoons is the United Nations street in WestBay, along which three schools are located – The Lebanese School, Qatar International School and the Lycee Francais School (the French School). See map below.

Are you stuck in traffic everyday? Which routes have the worst traffic jams?
