Workshops and Exhibitions

calligraphy kids wkshpKatara’s Calligraphy workshops for children: Allow your kids to experience and learn something new this month. The Arabic calligraphy workshops supervised by world-class artists at Katara are an excellent activity to get them to pick up a new skill or two. This year’s theme is ‘A touch of light illuminating the village of authenticity’.

Million Dots artwork display: This public artwork display by artist Sabah Arbili is inspired by the number of dots in the Quran. Visitors will be encouraged to intervene on a 7-metre long large canvas by placing ‘dots’ collaboratively with the artist and other members of the public.

Nafahat Al-Eman Lectures: Eminent lecturers and scholars will address topics related to Ramadan along with the benefits of fasting.
Where: Katara Main Mosque; When: July 9 to August 27, 2013; 9.30pm to 11.30pm

Islam-inspired Stamp Designs: Qatar Postal Museum in association with Katara Galleries is presenting a collection of Islam-inspired stamp designs from the world over. The exhibition will not just showcase the stamps, but will also be accompanied by an informative and educational curation of the exhibition, on the principles of stamp design. A stamp design workshop will be the highlight of the exhibition, one where participants will be able to design their own stamps using their own images or photos.

Fasting for Non-Muslims: Are you a Non-Muslim? Have you fasted before? The Hyatt Plaza’s Fast-a-Thon 2013 for Non-Muslims is your chance to experience it. Attend an Orientation Session on Friday, July 12 and an Iftar Party on Saturday at Hyatt Plaza’s food court.

3rd Beach Soccer Championship at Katara: Sponsored by Al Farjaan Committee for Soccer for the month of Ramadan, this soccer championship is meant for all individuals above 17 years of age. Winners will receive cash, trophies and medals for their achievements. Last day for registration is July 7, 2013. Please bring the following to Katara to sign up: A photograph, Copy of Qatar ID, registration fee or QR1000 and a QR 2000 deposit (to be returned after the tournament in the absence of violation of laws).
