Exhibition and Workshops
In an exciting collaboration with the Design Museum in the UK, Katara Exhibition presents Designed to Win, an exhibition which celebrates the ways in which sport and design are combined by pushing the limits of human endeavour. Brazilian portrait artist Harding Meyer is exhibiting his latest collection of portraits in the Eye to Eye – Portraits by Harding Meyer exhibition at Building 18 at Katara Art Centre. The subjects of his portraits are people of different nationalities who are not famous but appear in the media. The exhibition is open from 10am to 10pm. Katara is organizing an Interiors Photography Workshop with Scott Hargis a location advertising photographer specializing in interiors and architecture based in San Francisco. Confident users of full manual exposure control on cameras may apply to this three-day workshop covering the fundamentals of interiors photography with DSLR camera equipment. Get yourself tested for diabetes this weekend. On Thursday and Friday between 4pm and 9pm, Action on Diabetes Qatar will hold free diabetes-screening tests at Villaggio Mall.
Entalek has various adventure activities organized including Moonlight Paddling, Full Moon Kayaking, African Drumming, Snorkeling between June 19 and 29. This weekend, catch a dhow trip, kayaking trip, a mangrove tour at Al Thakhira or paddling under a moonlit sky. Book a spot for yourself on one of these exciting adventures here. Qatar Museum Academy’s Marasi Arab Ensemble department is all set to perform popular Egyptian singer Muhammad Abdul Wahab’s repertoire of songs using traditional Arab instruments such as the oud, buzuq, nay and qanun. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism is organizing the 2nd Doha Turkish Film Festival in Qatar starting Thursday, June 20 until June 26, 2013. All the films will be screened at Villaggio Mall. This Thursday and Friday, the Doha Film Institute is organizing double-bill screenings of two critically-acclaimed movies – Skateistan – Four Wheels and a Board in Kabul and Academy Award nominated film Buzkashi Boys at the MIA auditorium as part of the Museum of Islamic Art exhibition series. Ticketholders to Skateistan will be able to view Buzkashi Boys, which will be screened earlier.
