In the 1960s, a group of four talented young Aboriginal girls left their home in the Australian outback to embark to fulfill their dreams of becoming soul singers. Watch The Sapphires to learn about their journey at multiple screenings at the Katara Drama Theater in Building 16. The movie runs from June 13-19, with shows between 3pm and 11pm. Tickets to the film and the trailer are available on the Doha Film Institute website. Show timings: Thursday (7pm); Friday (3pm, 6pm, 9pm), Saturday (3pm, 6pm).

Watch fantastic world-class figure skaters dressed put on a magical show as Disney characters in the musical Disney on Ice show. Enjoy Hector Berlioz’s magical compositions at the Berlioz Symphonie Fantastique conducted by Rafael Payare on Saturday at Building 16, Katara Opera House at 7.30pm. Qatar Museum Academy’s Marasi Arab Ensemble department is all set to perform popular Egyptian singer Muhammad Abdul Wahab’s repertoire of songs using traditional Arab instruments such as the oud, buzuq, nay and qanun. Plaza Hollandi at Lagoona Mall is organizing an Ikebana show by well-known Japanese Ikebana artist, Tenkei Nomura on Thursday at 4.30pm. Plaza Hollandi is a flower outlet at Lagoona Mall. Nomura has been practicing Ikebana from a very young age and has also trained at a famous Ikebana school in Tokyo in the Sogetsu-style.

Get a peek into the lifestyle, culture and heritage of Qatar during the Fanar Qatar Islamic Cultural Center’s tour of the Blue Mosque (State Mosque). This guided tour will be interactive and will include a Q&A session along with photo opportunities. A bus will depart from the Fanar Center at 3.30pm and will return to the center around 4.20pm.
