Students from the Master’s Museums and Gallery Practices at the University College London Qatar (UCL-Q) are curating a new exhibition Backstage: A Museum is More than the Objects at the Library Foyer of the Education Wing at the Museum of Islamic Arts. Catch it during the museum’s opening hours.
Catch the last few days of the City – Faraj Daham/Abu El Naga exhibition at Katara’s Building 19 Gallery 1 & 2 featuring works by Doha-based artists, Faraj Daham and Mohamed Abouelnaga. See Daham, a Qatari artist’s work that addresses the City as a postcard while Abouelnaga shares a view of Cairo. The exhibition is open for public viewing from 10am to 10pm. Learn more about Islamic geometry and structures in a 3-day workshop for 2.5 hours on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday organized by the year-long Qatar-UK 2013. Camels in the Outback, an Al Jazeera Network presentation, will be screened at the Museum of Islamic Art auditorium on Friday and Saturday from 6pm to 8pm. An action-packed film that is directed by Yasir Khan, the film features a Qatari businessman who flies to Australia to investigate alternatives to the policy of killing thousands of camels.
