SCH tightens hospital standards

SCH tightens hospital standards

The Supreme Council of Health seems to be on a mission to improve health care facilities’ standards in the country. Just last week, it rejected request from private facilities to raise fees.  Read JustHere’s earlier report here.

This time it has made it mandatory for health facilities to follow new rules and policies laid down by SCH together with the Permanent Licensing Committee, according to a report by Qatar Tribune.

The new rules include:

  • All clinics/hospitals must have anesthetists available 24 hours.
  • Emergency room (ER) health practitioners must submit their Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certificates to SCH as a proof of having completed the course.
  • All hospitals must develop an emergency code policy that must be followed for cases that require immediate medical attention.

The SCH has warned of strict penal action against those facilities that don’t meet the above requirements within three months.
