A year more for neighbourhood stores
Local grocery stores in residential areas that were in fear of shutting down can now be at ease at least for a year. The State Cabinet has approved a draft decision of the Ministry of Business and Trade to extend the licenses of these stores until July 2014.
According to a report in Peninsula, the Central Municipal Council has asked for the government to extend the licenses till the commercial complexes project is completed. The project is part of the government plan to shift small commercial establishments from lanes and by lanes around housing localities and bring them under one roof, in the commercial complexes that will be built in each residential area. This is mainly to ease traffic congestion around such areas.
