Yes, men do get paid more than women in Qatar

On an average men earn 16% to 45% more than women.

The labour force statistics for the year 2012 released by the Qatar Statistics Authority show some stark discrepancies based on gender.
The difference in wages was least for professionals (10%), and only in the case technicians and associate professionals did women earn more (about 5%).

On what basis? Is it total salary including housing allowances, as that’s one of the biggest reasons companies like to hire women – because their sponsor is either husband or father – 9/10 times. And the logic is that since they are living with husband or father, they don’t need to pay for the house rent.

But, if you have already considered that factor and the adjusted figure shows this discrepancy, it is truly sad.
